Rockdale County, Georgia
Rockdale County is just east of Atlanta. You’ll find a mix of subdivisions and horse farms here, especially in the northern part of the county. The Georgia International Horse Park was built for the 1996 Olympics. To this day, it still draws equestrians from across the region.
The county also has some eye-catching natural beauty. This includes Panola Mountain State Park, which dominates the landscape. Here, you can find hiking trails and panoramic views of the Atlanta skyline.
Rockdale has been around since 1870, carved out of neighboring Henry and Newton counties. Conyers is the county seat and hub. The Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival paints the town pink each spring. Rockdale balances its growing population with efforts to preserve green spaces.
