Screven County, Georgia
Screven County is a quiet place. It’s a bit off the beaten path, tucked away in the eastern part of the state. This rural county has a charm all its own.
The Ogeechee River snakes through and forms the southern border. Fishermen and kayakers can find a peaceful day on the water here. You won’t find any fancy malls or nightclubs. But there’s something to be said for starry nights and crickets chirping.
The county is named after James Screven, a Revolutionary War general who fought the British in these parts. Sylvania, the county seat, is a small town with a big heart.
