US Counties

Manatee County is on Florida’s Gulf Coast, just south of Tampa Bay. It’s named after the Manatee River, which cuts through the county.

Marion County is known as the “Horse Capital of the World,” with more horses than any other county. Ocala is the county seat.

Martin County is on Florida’s Treasure Coast, north of Palm Beach. Stuart, the county seat, has a downtown right on the St. Lucie River.

A top destination for tourists, Miami-Dade County is Florida’s melting pot. It’s where Latin America meets the US with a dash of Caribbean.

Here’s the thing about Monroe County: it’s mostly water. The Florida Keys stretch out like a string of pearls, with Key West as the jewel.

Nassau County is in northeast Florida. It’s just north of Jacksonville, bordering Georgia. Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, is the seat.

While many Florida counties boast beaches, Okaloosa County claims some of the whitest sands you’ll ever see, anchored by Destin.

Okeechobee County centers around massive Lake Okeechobee. The city of Okeechobee serves as the county seat with a big fishing reputation.

Orange County puts it on the map with theme parks galore. Orlando’s Disney World and Universal Studios brings millions of tourists each year.

Osceola County is just south of Orange County, catching the overflow from Orlando’s tourism. It’s all inland with close proximity to Disney.

Palm Beach County is Florida’s playground for the rich and famous. West Palm Beach is the county seat, but Palm Beach island steals the show.

People often describe Pasco County as Tampa’s backyard, and that’s not far off. It’s just north of Tampa Bay, perfect for suburban sprawl.

Pinellas County is a peninsula on Florida’s Gulf Coast, packed with beaches and cities. St. Petersburg and Clearwater share the spotlight.

Polk County is right in the middle of Florida between Tampa and Orlando.  It’s also a good bet where your orange juice comes.

Putnam County is tucked away in northeast Florida, often overlooked by tourists. Palatka, the county seat, sits on the St. Johns River.
