Vermilion Parish, Louisiana

Vermilion Parish hugs the Gulf Coast in southern Louisiana, just west of Lafayette. Vermilion Bay is a hotspot for shrimpers and recreational fishermen. But there’s tons of small lakes here so don’t count them out.
Folks take their food seriously. If you haven’t tried boudin, you’re missing out. Cattle ranching’s big business too, with cowboys still roaming the prairies.
If you’re in town for Mardi Gras, prepare for a wild ride. These folks know how to party. Abbeville is the parish seat and is a charming spot with a beautiful courthouse square.
