Indiana Counties

Harrison County hugs the Ohio River in southern Indiana, just across from Louisville, Kentucky. Corydon is the county seat.

Hendricks County is Indy’s fast-growing western neighbor. Danville is the county seat. But places like Plainfield and Brownsburg are booming.

Henry County sits in east-central Indiana. It’s home to the town of New Castle, known for being the home to Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

Howard County is in the middle of north-central Indiana. Kokomo, the county seat, is known as the “City of Firsts” for its innovations.

Huntington County is in northeast Indiana, not far from Fort Wayne. Huntington is the county seat, which is home to Huntington University.

Jackson County is in the southern part of the state. Seymour, the county seat, is known as the hometown of rocker John Mellencamp.

Don’t overlook Jasper County. This piece of northwest Indiana is where the Prairie State lives up to its name. Rensselaer is the county seat.

Jay County sits right on Indiana’s eastern border with Ohio. Portland is the county seat and is located right in the middle of the county.

Jefferson County hugs the Ohio River in southeast Indiana. Madison, the county seat, is the star of the show here with its historic district.

Jennings County is in southeast Indiana. North Vernon is the county seat with the Muscatatuck River cutting through the county.

Johnson County sits just south of Indianapolis. Greenwood, on the north end, is basically an extension of Indy. Franklin is the county seat.

Knox County sits in southwest Indiana, right on the Wabash River. Vincennes, the county seat, is the star of the show here.

Kosciusko County is in the middle of northern Indiana, known as the land of lakes. Warsaw is the county seat, located in the center.

LaGrange County sits in the northeast corner of Indiana, against the Michigan border. The area is known for its large Amish population. 

Lake County sits right on Lake Michigan. Hammond and East Chicago give its industrial muscle. You’ve got swanky suburbs like Munster.
