Dodge County is located in the heart of the state, about halfway between Macon and Savannah. Eastman, the county seat, has a downtown area with historic buildings.
Dodge County is farm country, with fields of cotton, peanuts, and soybeans stretching to the horizon. Locals take pride in their agricultural heritage. The Ocmulgee River forms part of the county’s western border with some great fishing spots.
Dodge State Prison is one of the county’s largest employers. The Middle Georgia State University aviation campus in Eastman trains future pilots. Despite its rural nature, Dodge County has a small airport and is working to attract new businesses.
