Dubois County is in southwest Indiana with the White River forming its northern border. It’s not exactly the flashiest county but it has substance.
Patoka Lake in Hoosier National Forest takes up the northeast corner. Hunting, fishing, and boating are popular here. Ferdinand, another town in the county, is home to a gorgeous Benedictine monastery.
Jasper is the county seat, which is known for its German heritage and furniture industry. You’ll hear some locals speaking German if you listen closely. The county has a reputation for hard work and efficiency.
