Hooker County, Nebraska

Hooker County is in the Sandhills of north-central Nebraska. It’s tiny. Like, really tiny. We’re talking one of the least populous counties in the state.
Mullen, the only town, is home to most of the residents. Cattle ranching is the main gig here. The landscape is a sea of grass-covered sand dunes. It’s beautiful in its own way. Kinda lonely, though.
Locals are proud of their annual Sandhills Open Road Challenge. It’s a race where sports cars zip down Highway 2 at ridiculous speeds. Bit out of place, if you ask me. But hey, it brings in tourists. The Middle Loup River cuts through the county. Good fishing, if that’s your thing.
