Cherry County, Nebraska

Cherry Location Map Nebraska

Cherry County is up in north-central Nebraska. It’s huge. Yep, it’s the largest county in the state by area. We’re talking bigger than Connecticut. Valentine is the county seat.

The county’s part of the Nebraska Sandhills region, with grass-covered dunes stretching as far as the eye can see. Ranching’s the big industry here. There are way more cows than people.

The Niobrara River cuts through the county, offering great canoeing and fishing. There’s a real sense of community here, especially during the Cherry County Fair. And if you’re into nature, you’ve got to check out the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge.
