Jasper County, Georgia
Suffice it to say, Jasper County is pure Georgia. It’s right in the middle of the state, about an hour southeast of Atlanta. Small-town charm oozes from every corner. Monticello, the county seat, is straight out of a postcard.
History runs deep here. The courthouse, built in 1907, still stands proud. Folks are friendly as can be. The Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge covers part of the county so it’s a playground for hunters and hikers. Lake Jackson’s shores offer prime fishing spots.
Farmland stretches for miles with peaches and pecans as local favorites. The county is named after Sergeant William Jasper, a hero of the American Revolution. It’s the kind of place where life moves a little slower, and that’s just fine by everyone.
