Kearney County, Nebraska

Kearney County is in south-central Nebraska. Don’t confuse it with the city of Kearney. That’s in a different county, just to the north. Farming is the main industry. No surprises there. This is Nebraska, after all.
Minden is the county seat and biggest town here. It’s known as “Christmas City.” Every year, they put on a light show that draws visitors from all over. The locals are proud of it.
The county’s pretty flat. You can see for miles. It’s crisscrossed by country roads, connecting tiny towns and farmsteads. Folks here are friendly, but they keep to themselves. They’re used to making their own fun. High school sports are a big deal. On Friday nights, the whole town turns out for football games.
