Lamar County, Georgia
Lamar County is right in the middle of Georgia and just an hour south of Atlanta. Barnesville, the county seat, is where U.S. Route 41 and 341 intersect.
The county’s roots go way back to 1920. You can feel the history in the air. The old courthouse on the square is a local landmark. But now, you’ll see plenty of peach orchards and cattle farms.
Buggy Days, the big annual festival, celebrates the county’s buggy-making past. It’s a real hoot. Gordon State College is situated in Barnesville. Folks here are friendly as can be in terms of Georgia counties.
