Liberty County, Georgia

Liberty County sits on the coast just south of Savannah. Hinesville is the county seat with a big personality. There’s also Midway, a tiny town in the county that boasts some of the oldest churches in Georgia.
It’s no secret that Liberty County is steeped in American history. Why “Liberty” County anyway? Well, the area played a key role in the American Revolution, hence the patriotic name. You’ll find historic sites scattered all over.
Fort Stewart is here as well, which is the largest military installations in the Eastern U.S. The county has a little bit of everything. There’s coastal marshland, pine forests, and farmland. Fishing happens both in the rivers and off the coast. Despite the military presence, it’s still got that laid-back Southern vibe.
