Medina County, Texas

Medina County is just west of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country. Hondo is the county seat. It greets visitors with a sign that says “This is God’s Country, Please Don’t Drive Through It Like Hell”. That pretty much sums up the local attitude.
The county is known for its peaches and apples. It’s some of the sweetest you’ll ever taste. Castroville, founded by Alsatian immigrants, still has that European flavor. You can see it in the architecture and taste it in the food.
Medina Lake is a popular spot for fishing and boating. The whole county has a laid-back vibe that’ll make you want to slow down and stay a while. Wildflowers in spring are a sight to behold. The county is named after the Medina River, which winds its way through the area.
