Bandera County, Texas

Bandera County calls itself the “Cowboy Capital of the World,” and they ain’t kidding. It’s in the Texas Hill Country, west of San Antonio. The Medina River winds through here, perfect for tubing on hot summer days.
Dude ranches draw city slickers looking for a taste of the Old West. The county has more horses than people, or so it seems. Bandera, the main town, has hitching posts right on Main Street.
Live music spills out of honky-tonks on weekends. The hills are green in spring, golden in fall. Locals are fiercely proud of their Western heritage. It’s where cowboy boots never go out of style.
