Bailey County, Texas

Bailey County is way out in the Texas Panhandle. It’s flat as a pancake and twice as nice. Muleshoe is the only real town, named after an old ranch brand.
The county’s claim to fame? The Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge, winter home to sandhill cranes. Farming is the name of the game here – cotton, sorghum, you name it. Dust storms can kick up out of nowhere.
The people are as tough as the land they work. It’s the kind of place where a tractor might hold up traffic, and nobody minds. You can see tomorrow’s weather coming from a hundred miles away.
