Pecos County, Texas

Pecos County is a monster. It covers over 4,700 square miles of West Texas. Fort Stockton is the biggest town and county seat. But that’s not saying much because this is wide-open country.
Mesas and buttes break up the horizon. It’s oil country now. Pump jacks outnumber people in some parts. But long before oil, there were sheep and cattle. Ranching and hunting are still big.
The night sky out here is incredible. You can see every star in the Milky Way. It gets hot. Real hot. But folks here are used to it.
