Reeves County, Texas

Reeves County is out in Far West Texas. The Chihuahuan Desert dominates this county. Pecos, the county seat, calls itself the “Home of the World’s First Rodeo”. Bold claim, but they stand by it.
Oil and gas keep this place humming. The landscape is rugged and beautiful in its own way. You’ve got the Pecos River snaking through, providing much-needed water. Balmorhea State Park is home to one of the world’s largest spring-fed swimming pools.
Summers are brutal here and it’s not uncommon to see 100+ degree days for weeks on end. The county is named after George R. Reeves, a Texas state legislator. It’s where the Old West is still alive and kicking.
