Pierce County, Georgia
Pierce County is tucked in southeast Georgia. The county’s been around since 1857, carved out of Ware and Appling counties. Blackshear is now the county seat.
Agriculture drives the local economy. You’ll find a mix of farmland and piney woods here. The Okefenokee Swamp Park sits just a short distance to the south. Here’s where you’ll get a glimpse into Georgia’s wild side.
There’s not too much for parks here, but Laura Walker State Park is south of the county line. It draws campers and fishermen (and fisherwomen) year-round. Pierce County doesn’t operate on a grand scale, but it has charm to spare.
