Cherokee County, Alabama

Cherokee County is way up in northeast Alabama, bordering Georgia to the east. Centre is the county seat with about 26,000 people living here.
Weiss Lake dominates the landscape, right in the middle of the county. They call it the “Crappie Capital of the World”. Fishing isn’t just a pastime here. It’s a way of life.
The county is named after the Cherokee people who once lived here. There’s no interstate, but plenty of winding mountain roads. But U.S. Highway 411 will get you there.
