Posey County, Indiana
Posey County sits in the extreme southwest corner of Indiana. This county is about as far from Indianapolis as you can get and still be in Indiana. It’s also where the Wabash River meets the Ohio at the southeastern tip.
It’s mostly flat farmland, but the rivers give it some character. Harmonie State Park is here if you’re into camping and hiking. The county seat is Mount Vernon. It’s a river town with a view of both Kentucky and Illinois.
New Harmony, a tiny town with a big history, is the county’s claim to fame. It was founded as a utopian community and still has that quaint, idealistic vibe.
