Torrance County, New Mexico

Torrance County is right in the heart of New Mexico. It’s where the plains meet the mountains. Estancia is the county seat. Small town, big sky. This place has history. Ancient pueblos, Spanish missions, you name it.
The Salt Lakes are a unique feature. They’re remnants of an ancient inland sea. Mountainair, another town in the county, is known as the “Gateway to Ancient Cities”. Then, there’s Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument in the southwest. It’s a window into the past.
Agriculture is still big here. Pinto beans are a major crop. Who knew? The county has some of the darkest skies in the country. Stargazers love it. Manzano Mountains State Park is for hiking, camping, and picnicking.
