Twiggs County, Georgia
Twiggs County is a place where country living is as natural to you as breathing. It’s tucked away in central Georgia, just east of Macon. Jeffersonville, the county seat, is small enough that a traffic jam means getting stuck behind a tractor.
The Ocmulgee River forms the county’s western border, a favorite spot for fishing and kayaking. Kaolin mining has been big business here for years. You’ll see the chalky white clay in quarries everywhere.
The Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuge is great for bird watchers. Fall brings hunters to the county’s vast woods. Locals gather at the Twiggs County Fair every year for rides, food, and catching up with neighbors. The old Jeffersonville Train Depot now houses a museum full of local history.
