US Counties

Cumberland County is right in the middle of south-central Pennsylvania. The Cumberland Valley is at the heart of this county.

Dauphin County is where the action is. It’s home to Harrisburg, the state capital, right in the south-central part of the state.

Delaware County is just a stone’s throw from Philly. Locals call it Delco. Delaware River forms the southeast border with New Jersey.

Elk County is way up in north-central Pennsylvania. The name’s no coincidence. This place is famous for its elk herd. People come to see them.

Erie County is the only part of Pennsylvania that touches one of the Great Lakes (Lake Erie). It’s in the northwest corner of the state.

Fayette County sits in southwestern Pennsylvania. Uniontown is the county seat. The Monongahela River forms its western border.

Forest County sits in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania. It’s tiny and is one of the least populous counties in the state.

Franklin County stretches across south-central Pennsylvania, right up against the Maryland border. Chambersburg is the county seat.

Fulton County is in the south central part of Pennsylvania, bordering Maryland. The Appalachians dominate this county. It’s a rural county.

Greene County occupies the southwest corner of Pennsylvania, with West Virginia on two sides. Waynesburg is the county seat.

Huntingdon County is right in the middle of Pennsylvania. It’s a place where the Appalachian Mountains show off their beauty.

Indiana County sits in western Pennsylvania, about an hour east of Pittsburgh. It’s known as the “Christmas Tree Capital of the World”.

Jefferson County is in West Pennsylvania. Punxsutawney is here. Every February 2nd, the world turns its eyes here for Groundhog Day.

Juniata County sits in Central Pennsylvania, surrounded by forested ridges. The Juniata River cuts through the county.

Lackawanna sits in northeastern Pennsylvania. Scranton, the county seat, is the biggest city. Yeah, that Scranton from “The Office”.
