Brooks County, Texas

Brooks County is down in South Texas. Ranch country here. It’s dry, it’s hot, and it’s sparse. There’s only about 7,000 people in the whole county. Falfurrias is the biggest town, famous for its butter.
The county’s right in the middle of the Wild Horse Desert. Cattle ranching is still king here. Hunting is popular too, especially for white-tailed deer.
It’s not an easy place to make a living. Wildflowers in spring can be spectacular. The people are tough and resilient. They have to be to survive out here.
