Carter County is in the Ozark highlands of southeastern Missouri. It’s a paradise for the outdoors. The Current River is a favorite for floating and fishing, cuts through the county.

While hikers flock to the Ozark Trail, the Mark Twain National Forest covers much of the southwest region. Van Buren is the county seat with about 800 people.
