California Counties

Kings County is right in the middle of the Central Valley. It’s flat farmland far and wide. The county is big on dairy and cotton. 

Lake County is named after Clear Lake, the largest natural lake entirely in California. It’s north of Napa, but way less fancy.

Lassen is up in the northeast corner of California with a population that hovers around 33,000 people. It’s where high desert meets forest.

Where to start with LA County? It’s huge. You’ve got Hollywood, beaches, mountains, and deserts. Obviously, there’s Los Angeles itself.

Madera County is in the Central Valley. It stretches up all the way into the Sierra Nevada too. Approximately 100,000 live here.

Marin is just north of San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s where the rich folks live. Think fancy houses with killer views.

Mariposa is in the Sierra foothills, and it’s all about Yosemite. A big chunk of the park’s in the county. Mariposa is the county seat.

Mendocino is on the coast, north of San Francisco. It has these cute little towns that look like they’re straight out of a movie.

Merced County is in the Central Valley, right in the middle of farm country. Merced is the biggest city, and it’s the county seat.

Modoc is way up in the northeast corner of California. The population is sparse, just around 9,500 people. Alturas is the county seat.

Mono County is a playground for outdoor types. It’s tucked away on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada next to the state of Nevada.

Monterey County has a little bit of everything. There’s the coast with places like Carmel and Big Sur. Pebble Beach Golf Course is also here.

Napa County is all about the wine. Seriously, it’s everywhere. The Napa Valley is gorgeous, with rolling hills covered in vineyards.

Nevada County is in the Sierra foothills, and it has that Gold Rush vibe going strong. The population is around 100,000 people.

Orange County is more than just Disneyland, but yeah, that’s here too in Anaheim. This county is south of LA, with a bunch of beach towns
