Tennessee Counties

Scott County sits on the northern edge of Tennessee, right up against Kentucky. It’s part of the beautiful Cumberland Plateau.

Sequatchie is in southeast Tennessee, not far from Chattanooga. The Sequatchie Valley is something else. It runs right through.

Sevier County is a tourist’s dream in eastern Tennessee. It’s home to a big chunk of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Memphis. That’s what Shelby County is all about. It’s in the southwest corner of Tennessee, right on the Mississippi River.

Smith County is a piece of rural Tennessee. Carthage is the county seat, sitting pretty where the Cumberland and Caney Fork rivers meet.

Stewart County sits in the northwestern Tennessee. It’s where the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers sandwich the Land Between the Lakes area.

Sullivan County sits in the northeastern corner of Tennessee, bordering Virginia. This county is part of the Tri-Cities region.

Sumner County is just north of Nashville, bordering Kentucky to the north. Hendersonville is the largest city and sits on Old Hickory Lake.

Tipton County is perched in west Tennessee, just north of Memphis. Covington, the county seat, has one of those classic Southern town squares

Trousdale County is right in the middle of the state. It’s the smallest county in size in Tennessee, just a bit over 100 square miles.

Unicoi County is a region in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Tennessee. Erwin, the county seat, sits in a valley surrounded by peaks.

Union County is northeast of Knoxville in the Tennessee Valley. This is home to Big Ridge State Park, which is a spot for camping and hiking.

Van Buren County is right in the heart of Tennessee, on the eastern edge of the Cumberland Plateau. Spencer is the county seat.

Warren County is right in the middle of Tennessee. McMinnville, the county seat, is known as the Nursery Capital of the World.

Washington County sits in the northeastern corner of Tennessee, part of the Tri-Cities region. Jonesborough, is the oldest town in the state.
