Clay County, North Carolina

Clay County is perched in the southwestern corner of North Carolina, bordering Georgia. Mountains dominate the landscape in Clay County. It’s rugged country. Beautiful, too.
Hayesville serves as the county seat, a town so small you might miss it on a map. Not ours though. But that’s part of its charm. It’s quiet here. Peaceful. A place where you can really get away from it all.
Visitors come here for the hiking trails and pristine lakes. Lake Chatuge is a favorite spot for boating and fishing. The Cherokee once called this area home. Their influence is still felt today. Local artisans keep traditional crafts alive.
