Towns County is situated in the North Georgia mountains. It’s small, with just over 10,000 residents. Hiawassee is the county seat and sits on the shores of Lake Chatuge. This man-made lake ideal for boaters and anglers.

The Appalachian Trail cuts through the county’s northern edge. Hiking is a fan-favorite here. Fall brings a riot of color to the mountains. Winters can be harsh climbing, but the views are worth it.

Young Harris College adds a touch of academia to the rural setting. The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds host events year-round, from music festivals to craft fairs. Locals are proud of their moonshine heritage.
