Cochran County, Texas

Cochran County is out in West Texas, right on the New Mexico border. It’s dry. Real dry. But folks here make the most of it. Morton, the county seat, is home to about 2,000 people. They’re a hardy bunch. They have to be in order to farm in this climate.
There’s not much to do here if you’re looking for excitement. But that’s kind of the point. It’s quiet. Peaceful. The kind of place where you can see every star in the sky at night.
The county is named after Robert Cochran, who died at the Alamo. The Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge is worth a visit if you’re in the area. And if you like wide-open spaces, well, Cochran County has plenty of those.
