Hockley County, Texas

The South Plains of West Texas are home to Hockley County. Levelland is the county seat. The name fits because it’s flat out here. Real flat. Cotton is king in these parts. You’ll see lots come harvest time.
Oil’s been good to the county too. While Levelland has a nice little downtown, South Plains College brings some youthful energy. The Mallet Event Center hosts rodeos and concerts, which is a big deal around here.
Summers are hot and dry so dust storms aren’t uncommon. But the people are friendly and down-to-earth. They work hard and play harder. It’s the kind of place where a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.
