Dakota County, Nebraska

Dakota County is right up in the northeast corner of Nebraska. It’s the second smallest county in the state. South Sioux City is the biggest town.
The Missouri River forms the eastern border, creating a border with Iowa. Agriculture is a big deal here, but there’s also a fair bit of industry thanks to the nearby Sioux City metro area.
Winters can be harsh, with icy winds sweeping down from the Dakotas. But summers are beautiful, perfect for exploring the local parks and nature areas. There’s a strong Native American heritage in these parts, reflected in some of the local place names and cultural events.
