Freestone County, Texas

Freestone County is right in the middle of East Texas, about halfway between Dallas and Houston. Teague is the biggest town but Fairfield is the county seat.
Fairfield Lake is great for fishing, while Lake Limestone draws folks looking to cool off. There’s also Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area for hiking, hunting, and even horseback riding.
Freestone has its quirks. Like how it’s named after a type of peach that used to grow all over. Oil and gas keep the economy humming. But it’s not all work. The county fair each October is a highlight for locals and visitors.
