Limestone County, Texas

Limestone County is in east-central Texas, between Waco and Dallas. The county is named for its abundant limestone deposits. You can find all sorts of marine fossils in the rocks here.
The county seat belongs to Groesbeck. But Mexia is the biggest town, known for its oil boom days in the 1920s. These days, things are a bit quieter.
Fort Parker State Park has a great lake for fishing and camping nearby. The county has a mix of prairies and woodlands. You’ll see lots of cattle grazing in the fields. And if you’re around in spring, don’t miss the Bluebonnet Festival in Mexia.
