Hemphill County is perched way up in the northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle, bordering Oklahoma. Canadian is the county seat and is a big piece of culture on the high plains.

The county is named after John Hemphill, the first chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court. Ranching is the lifeblood of this place. The Canadian River cuts a dramatic valley through the county.
