Keith County, Nebraska

Keith County is out in western Nebraska. It’s known for Lake McConaughy. Locals actually call it “Big Mac” because it’s the biggest lake in the state. It brings in folks from all over for fishing, boating, and camping.
Ogallala is the county seat, which used to be a wild cowtown back in the day. Now it’s just a quiet place off I-80. The economy here depends on agriculture and tourism.
People are used to the rough weather here. The Platte River runs along the southern edge of the county. It’s a major flyway for sandhill cranes so it’s quite a sight during migration season.
