Perkins County, Nebraska

Perkins County is out in southwest Nebraska, bordering Colorado. It’s farm country here. Grant’s the county seat.
The landscape is mostly flat. Fields stretching as far as the eye can see. Wheat’s the big crop here. But there’s some corn and cattle too. The wind never seems to stop blowing in winter.
Summers aren’t much better. Hot and dry. But the people here are tough. They’re used to it. The population’s been shrinking for years. Young folks tend to leave. But those who stay? They love it here. It’s home.
