McMinn County, Tennessee

McMinn County sits right in the heart of the Tennessee Valley. It’s in the eastern part of the state, between Knoxville and Chattanooga.
Athens is the county seat. It has this great little downtown. The courthouse is a real looker. The county has some interesting history. Ever heard of the Battle of Athens? Happened right after World War II. Locals and veterans stood up to political corruption. It actually made national news.
There’s also the Cherokee National Forest in the southeast, which is great for hiking and camping. The Hiwassee River is popular for kayaking and fishing. It’s mostly rural, but there’s industry too. Lots of manufacturing jobs. People here work hard and play hard.
