Reagan County, Texas

Reagan County sits right in the middle of West Texas. It’s oil country, plain and simple. Pump jacks cover the landscape, nodding up and down like giant metal birds.
Big Lake is the county seat, but don’t let the name fool you. There’s no lake anymore. It dried up years ago. (even though we have one on our USCountyMaps.com map).
The county is named after John Reagan, postmaster general of the Confederacy. Ranching used to be a big deal before oil was struck. Now, it’s all about black gold.
