Ripley County, Indiana
Ripley County sits in southeast Indiana, where the flat farmlands start to give way to rolling hills. Versailles, the county seat, is pronounced “Ver-sales”. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.
This county has a bit of everything: farms, forests, and even some surprising hills in the southern part. Batesville, the largest town, straddles the line between Ripley and Franklin County and is known for its casket manufacturing.
The Versailles State Park provides hiking trails and a lake for fishing. You might catch a glimpse of old-time steam engines at the Whitewater Valley Railroad.
