Stewart County, Georgia
Stewart County lies in west-central Georgia. Founded in 1830, it’s named after Revolutionary War general Daniel Stewart. The population is small here with only around 5,000 people in the entire county.
Providence Canyon State Park, “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon,” is a major attraction. Visitors don’t go empty-handed, often leaving with amazing photos. There’s also Florence Marina State Park, perfect for fishing and boating on Walter F. George Reservoir.
Agriculture, especially peanuts and cotton, drives the economy. The area is rich in Native American history. Westville, a living history museum, showcases 19th-century life. Lumpkin is the county seat, known for its strong community spirit.
