US Counties

Del Norte County sits way up in California’s top left corner. It’s a place of big trees and wild coastline. The population is only 28,000.

Fresno County sits right in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Fresno is the county seat and largest city in the valley.

Glenn County is pure agricultural country in the northern Sacramento Valley. It’s bordered by the Sacramento River and the Coast Ranges.

Humboldt County is way up north on the coast. It’s redwood country here, with some trees taller than skyscrapers.

Imperial County is about as far south and east as you can get in California. It’s mostly desert area so it’s hot and dry most of the year.

Inyo County is a land of extremes. It’s home to both the lowest and the highest points in the contiguous United States.

Kern County is like California in miniature. You’ve got the Central Valley, pieces of the Sierra Nevada and the Mojave Desert.

Kings County is right in the middle of the Central Valley. It’s flat farmland far and wide. The county is big on dairy and cotton. 

Lake County is named after Clear Lake, the largest natural lake entirely in California. It’s north of Napa, but way less fancy.

Lassen is up in the northeast corner of California with a population that hovers around 33,000 people. It’s where high desert meets forest.

Where to start with LA County? It’s huge. You’ve got Hollywood, beaches, mountains, and deserts. Obviously, there’s Los Angeles itself.

Madera County is in the Central Valley. It stretches up all the way into the Sierra Nevada too. Approximately 100,000 live here.

Marin is just north of San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s where the rich folks live. Think fancy houses with killer views.

Mariposa is in the Sierra foothills, and it’s all about Yosemite. A big chunk of the park’s in the county. Mariposa is the county seat.

Mendocino is on the coast, north of San Francisco. It has these cute little towns that look like they’re straight out of a movie.
