Allen County, Kentucky

Allen County is in southern Kentucky, right on the Tennessee line. Scottsville is the county seat. The population here is roughly 21,000 residents.
Barren River Lake is a big attraction, especially for people who like to fish. You can find it in the northeast. Allen County has strong Mennonite and Amish communities.
The county got its name from Colonel John Allen, a lawyer killed in the War of 1812. If you’re into bluegrass music, you might catch a jam session at the local music store. Oh, and watch out for the occasional lost cow on the road – it happens more often than you’d think.
