Butler County is in western Kentucky, about an hour north of Bowling Green. It’s named after Richard Butler, a Revolutionary War hero.
The Green River runs through the county, offering good fishing spots. Rochester Dam is a local landmark in the northwest. Folks especially like to picnic there.
Around 12,000 people live here, with Morgantown as the county seat. Despite having such a small population, the land area is one of the larger counties in the state. U.S. Route 231 will get you to Morgantown and most places you need to go.
