Calhoun County, Texas

Calhoun County is where the prairie meets the sea. It’s situated on the Texas Gulf Coast, about halfway between Houston and Corpus Christi. Port Lavaca is the biggest town, right on Lavaca Bay.
Fishing is a way of life here, both commercial and recreational. The Formosa Wetlands Walkway is a great spot for birdwatching. Don’t miss Magnolia Beach while you’re here.
Hurricanes are always a concern. The people are resilient, though. They’ve weathered plenty of storms. Seafood is the star here. We suggest you try the oysters.
