Arkansas Counties

Miller County occupies the southwest corner of Arkansas, with Texarkana as its county seat. This city straddles the Arkansas-Texas border.

Mississippi County stretches along the Mississippi River in northeast Arkansas. It has two county seats: Blytheville and Osceola.

Monroe County lies in eastern Arkansas, deep in the Mississippi Delta. Clarendon, the county seat, sits on the White River.

Montgomery County is in the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas. The county is largely covered by the Ouachita National Forest.

Nevada County sits in southwest Arkansas, with Prescott as its county seat. Prescott is a small city with a historic downtown.

Newton County is deep in the Ozark Mountains of northwestern Arkansas. It’s one of the most rural and rugged counties in the state.

Ouachita County is in southern Arkansas. It’s centered around Camden, a town with a rich history dating back to the Civil War.

Perry County is just west of Little Rock. The county seat is Perryville. This small town has a population of around 10,000 county-wide.

Phillips County is in eastern Arkansas along the Mississippi River. The county’s population is around 20,000 and holding steady.

Pike County is in southwestern Arkansas with Murfreesboro as the county seat. U.S. Highway 70 passes through Murfreesboro.

Poinsett County lies in northeast Arkansas, straddling Crowley’s Ridge and the flat Delta lands. The county is named after Joel Poinsett.

Polk County is in the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas. Mena is the county seat, which has some of the state’s most scenic areas.

Pope County sits in the Arkansas River Valley of west-central Arkansas. Russellville is the county seat and home to Arkansas Tech University.

Prairie County stretches across the Grand Prairie region of eastern Arkansas. Des Arc serves for county seat duties.

Pulaski County is the most populous county in Arkansas and home to Little Rock. The county is a hub of government, business, and culture.
