Monroe County lies in eastern Arkansas, deep in the Mississippi Delta. Clarendon, the county seat, sits on the White River and is known for its connection to the outdoors.

The Cache River National Wildlife Refuge is partly in Monroe County. It’s known for its ancient cypress trees and excellent duck hunting. 

Agriculture dominates the landscape. There are vast fields of rice and soybeans. The Louisiana Purchase State Park marks the initial point from which land surveys of the Louisiana Purchase began.
