Ouachita County is in southern Arkansas. It’s centered around Camden, a town with a rich history dating back to the Civil War. U.S. Highway 79 and U.S. Highway 278 cross the county.
The Ouachita River runs through the county, hence the origin of the county name. Timber and manufacturing are key industries here. The area’s forests support a thriving lumber business.
With a population of around 23,000, the county is known for its historical sites. This includes Fort Lookout and Fort Southerland Civil War parks. On the other hand, the annual Camden Daffodil Festival is a big draw.
