Missouri Counties

The Mississippi River flows along the eastern edge of Cape Girardeau County. It separates it from Illinois to the east.

Carroll County sits in north-central Missouri, bordered by the Grand River to the east. Fields of corn and soybeans stretch far and wide.

Carter County is in the Ozark highlands of southeastern Missouri. It’s a paradise for the outdoors with Mark Twain National Forest.

Cass County is just south of Kansas City. Harrisonville serves as the county seat. Cass County has rolling hills, lakes, and farmland.

Cedar County sits in the southwest part of Missouri, right in the heart of the Ozarks. It’s not a big place, but it’s got character.

Chariton County is up in north-central Missouri. It’s farm country here. The land here is flat and fertile, perfect for growing crops.

Southwest Missouri is home to Christian County, a place that’s been growing like crazy in recent years. It’s right next door to Springfield.

The northeastern corner of Missouri is where you’ll find Clark County. It’s a small place, population-wise, but it’s got a big personality.

Clay County sits just north of Kansas City, right across the Missouri River. It’s been around since 1822, named after Henry Clay.

Clinton County is up in northwest Missouri. The county seat is Plattsburg and is a friendly spot. It was founded way back in 1833.

Jefferson City, the state capital, sits right in the heart of Cole County. This place has been Missouri’s seat of government since 1826.

Boonville is the biggest town in Cooper County. You’ll find this county right in the middle of Missouri, along the Missouri River.

Crawford County is deep in the Ozarks. Steelville, the county seat, calls itself the “Floating Capital of Missouri.”

Greenfield is the biggest town in Dade County. This little piece of Missouri sits in the southwest corner of the state.

Dallas County is a small county in southwest Missouri. It’s home to the Niangua River and the Bennett Spring Fish Hatchery.
